Made with two different kinds of vegan semi-sweet chocolate, pure cocoa powder, rolled in vegan powdered sugar and baked to a brownie/truffle-like texture.
Vegan Gluten-Free Cinnamon Brûlée Cookie -
Caramelized organic vegan cinnamon sugar on top of a chewy sugar cookie.
Vegan Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookie -
Thick, chewy peanut butter cookie loaded with vegan peanut butter.
I got a hot tip about a place that makes gluten-free and vegan cookies. Now I was intrigued so I had to find out about this joint. I drove down Highland Avenue and past DeLuscious Cookies twice as I could not stop in front as there was no parking. I drove around the back and parked in a parking spot right behind where I thought the cookie place was. In front of me was a large double door that I assumed led me to the cookie place. I walked through the double doors and immediately was confused as I was in a modern art gallery. I wandered around the gallery wondering where the cookies were as I soaked in the art. I kept walking to the front and out the door pretending that I was there to view the exhibit. Once in front, I entered a door next to the art gallery and saw a sign leading me up the stairs. Where the heck am I? I entered a large open room with long tables and now thought I was lost again as this didn't look like any bakery I had ever seen before. There was no one behind the somewhat side counter which led to a glassed in kitchen with no one in it. Finally a very nice gentleman came out and explained that I was indeed in the right place and that they sell individually and by order. He had trays behind him and after tasting a couple cookies I took home with me GF Vegan Chocolate decadence, GF Vegan Oatmeal Raisin, GF Vegan Chocolate Chip, GF Vegan Cinnamon Brûlée and GF Vegan Peanut Butter. I was skeptical as to how good they might be and I rationed them over 3 days. I was quite pleasantly surprised how good these cookies tasted. They are large and thick so I ate them by breaking off bite size pieces as a way to trick my stomach into thinking that I was only eating a bite. After I ate all 5 of these delicious cookies, and a couple are not my fav flavors normally, I immediately starting thinking of my next visit wondering if I will again get lost in the art gallery or whether I should order online. I'm too old school so I will most likely wander over to this GF cookie haven. The name is no lie, the cookies are DeLuscious.
